Flint and Steel - anyone tried bamboo and china?

Makes you wonder how it was discovered.

Well my guess is that in the pre-iron age, a stone axe and the right kind of Schizostachyum bamboo was all that was needed to create sparks. It just needed a bright mind to put some -veeeery sensitive- tinder next to it.

The amazing Dalem Gumino shows in his videos that the bamboo strike-a-light can not only be done with bamboo species in the genus Schizostachyum, but also with:

In the following link a Papua New Guinea native tribesman "mudman" demonstrates how to make fire using a piece of string and tinder. I was curious to find out if anyone had accomplished this skill or had any hands on with the technique?
