I'm going to treat myself to some 5.11 trousers for christmas, I usually wear Fjällräven Foresters sized at '52' which translates to a UK 36" waist I think. Does anyone wear both Fjällräven and 5.11 trousers? How does the sizing compare between the brands?

I was thinking about the basic Tactical Pant in Cotton, has anyone any experience of their other ranges, the 'Strike' or 'Taclite Pro', do these other trousers have anything to recommend them above the Tactical pant?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

I have both the Tactical Pant and Taclite Pro, personally i prefer the TPro one's, the polycotton mix is much lighter and for me more comfortable. I found with the cotton trousers the cotton material faded with washing much sooner and didnt dry out anywhere near as quickly, also it feels a lot thicker on which i didn't likeas much......all in all though they're both great trousers, extremely comfortable and hard wearing with a good pocket set-up....

As above for the pro - lighter and more colourfast - while the strike is closer fitting with stretch fabric.
I prefer the Pro and Stryke in sumer the tactical in cooler weather.
I am not sure about the sizing comparison but the 5.11 sizing is pretty much real and acurate - 36 is 36, 38 is 38 etc

Thanks for all the replies.

I popped along to 'Milipol' in Budapest, who based on some of the gear on the shelves obviously supply the Budapest Police Shock Commando units.

They were very helpful and I walked away with a pair of Taclite Pros. First impressions are that these are remarkably well made trousers, I miss the pocket within the thigh cargo pockets that the Fjällrävens have, but I have a needle and thread and can knock something up. The cargo pockets could be a little bigger/deeper but they will do the job.

I did look at the all cotton 'Tactical Pant' and was impressed by how sturdy they felt, certainly much heavier than conventional cotton combats, I was in two minds as to which trouser to buy, however they didn't have my size in the all cotton version so my mind was made up for me.

My Fjällrävens were sold to me as 34" by Woodlore, however they are badged inside as being '52' which would normally be a UK 36". I usually shop for 34" waist trousers found that the Fjällrävens size '52' fitted perfectly.

The Taclites I purchased were sized at 34" with a 32" inside leg, they fit me to a 'T'.

Thanks again everybody.

Hi! Sorry this is an old thread.
I'd like to know the following :
I am an avid fan of 5.11 trousers. All of them a size 36 (32 leg) for a perfect fit..
I am looking at ordering Fjällrävens , based on the size charts I should get a size '52', but based on your comment I am wondering if I should get the '54's. In your opinion to match a true 36 , is the Fjällrävens '54' the way to go ?

Thanks!
