I'm looking to buy a practical, cheap, basic crafting knife for occasional use. I've penciled in these three options:

Hultafors Craftsman
Mora Companion
Hultafors Heavy Duty Knife

Any words of wisdom appreciated.

Mora is always my first choice, although I have used all these knives and you cannot go wrong with any of them. I think they are all on the same page to be fare

Hultafors craftsman.

Craftsman is great, handle can get in the way occasionally but it's awesome for £7 or whatever.

Any of them - they are all great!

Thanks all.
That certainly makes my decision easier.
Craftsman is in the basket, cheaper and looks less "army".

Mora. The models with the rubber handles. Made from whichever steel, they are all excellent.
( S/s is easier to keep nice as it does not rust)

My favourite is Mora Sportkniv 2000. I like the blade.

Hultafors is a copy of the Mora. Hence Mora for me.

Mora's are better than hultafors... but that doesn't mean hults are bad. Theres just more guard, too close to the blade on a hultafors, which leaves the most useful part of the blade struggling for space.

Thanks all.

Where are the Hultafors knives made? I know it is a Swedish company, but weird they do not use a steel from Sandviken?

Japanese kitchen knives that use a Sandviken core cost a premium.
