Won't be to everyone's taste, stick tang and wooden handle, but I am quite pleased with it for a first go.

Blade - Brusletto - finn peer
Handle - Plum topped and tailed with box

Don't worry about your gear being to anyone elses taste!
The quality shines through - you should be proud of it!

Cheers OTT

Don't get me wrong, I'm really pleased with how it turned out and it fits my hand just right, I just meant that I've noticed from other threads that some folk have definite opinions about full v stick and wood handles.

BTW that beer, did you get my PM? :beerchug:

I think it's great. It looks quite practical, and I like what you did with the front and back. That's one to use and be proud of.

It looks great.
I love stick tangs. I've read several posts on here -by experienced knife makers- that all seem to think that stick tangs (if made well) are just as tough as fulltangs. I have to be honest, I get a bit bored of all the full tang knives that all seem to look the same. You get much more variety with stick tangs, but each to their own.

Thats nice I like stick tangs
Why the pins?

I decided that I wanted the handle to be longer than the tang which meant that I couldn't use the threaded end to bolt it together. So I drilled the handle, marked the position of the holes onto the tang and then drilled that, offsetting the holes slightly so when the pins went in they pulled everything tight, in the same way that the pegs do in a mortice and tenon joint. Probably not necessary but it seemed to work and meant that it's not relying solely on glue to hold it.

Hope that makes sense
