Just returned from my first three day trip since lockdown -
Had a blast of a time - got very lucky with weather and saw some interesting things...
Could hear the stags rutting and calling every night from a distance, yet about 3am this morning myself and my friend heard an incredibly loud noise that was clearly very near - hunkered down and tried to stay as quiet as possible under the tarp - could then see the vague shadowy figures of two giant black fallow stags fighting it out about 20 metres away - its an experience I feel extremely lucky to have seen but also scared the sh*t out of both of us until they eventually went off -
Woke up to this right on the edge of our camp:
Safe to say we won’t be camping anywhere near during the rutting season again - we were both completely aware of the risks yet it was the only time we both could get away from work in over 5 months... Definitely not worth the risk on reflection but felt great to be out and about.
Here’s a few shots from camp -
Stay safe out there guys!
