First time fly fishing River Wharfe

A member on this forum kindly offered to take me fly fishing on the River Wharfe this past week. I'm a complete novice fly fisherman and was hosted to a fantastic day , it was great to meet a fellow member of BCUK and his patience and guidance made the day . I'll be continuing to fish and although I didn't catch I had a brilliant day in great company and learned loads to take away and practice . Another skill for the bushcraft locker . This was a blast from the past. I spent several of my younger years living on the Wharfe at Collingham. Its where I learnt to swim. Cheers for the post.

Good on you, i paid for some lessons a few years ago, to be told by the instructor," listen mate, i don't want to fall out with you, but you really don't have the temperment for this kind of sport ", i thought about what he's said for a few seconds, then picked him up & threw him in...

Joking aside, i was a bit hasty back then, & had been described in a report, as having " the patience of a striking rattle snake", so he was probably right.
