Well, I finally got round to writing up the bivvy bag trip I finally got around to making!
Started off with choosing a woefully small rucksack. My old Deuter AirComfort 28 so, despite the actual weight, this as an ultra (for me) light camp
Then it was off to find the spot itself! Couple of lovely evening views on the way and then I was there, again, only half an hour tops from my house. A bonus for two reasons, I was late (again) setting out and if it all went horribly wrong I could get home again, easy! I also had no warm clothing but I was going to be in the bag when it was cold right? The spot as you can hopefully see was lovely and heathery...
Next up, pick the actual spot, away from the huge ants nest I thought was wise, and try out some dull dried food on the mini trangia. As with most things from Decathlon, the food was perfectly fine and before long I was settled back in the bag looking at a clear sky wondering if I might catch any late Perseids. Only a couple but one was the most amazing blaze of light I have ever seen in the sky, beautiful, and I'd have missed it under a tarp in a hammock.
Breakfast was a simple porridge, coffee and away for a treat at home. Very simple little outing but I'm pretty sure the bivvy will see as much action as the hammock in future, horses for courses isn't it!
Made a little video if you want to kill 20 minutes and see a bit more.
Thanks, Chris.
