Yeah, I've read good things about this blade.
It's military issue as well isn't it?
Never seen these for sale in the UK though.

When I was doing my national service in the Special Forces (`89/90), you weren`t issued with a knife...it was up to you what you wanted to use...however, this is a m/95 model. I don`t know what the system is nowadays (?)

If you do a search on Google (sissipuukko + j.p.peltonen), you should come up with some web pages in german...the going price nowadays seems to be around 99 euros...

I`ve got the model with a leather sheath, which is absolutely brilliant!

I've had one of these for a few years, great knife!

Just out of interest...when and where/how did you get yours? When I bought mine, there was a waiting list (!?!)

It`s more or less useless :) for the finer work (whittling and carving), but then again fantastic for everything else...That`s why I normally carry the peltonen, a leatherman original (bought in `94 in Zimbabwe and a traditional finnish carbon steel puukko...(not the Roselli Eräpuukko anymore, because at the moment, it`s at the bottom of a Finnish lake...long story :dunno:

i've seen this knife on brisa loads of times and thought it was a bit of an odd one for a custom knives kinda site, dare i say i thought it looked a little cheap and nasty.

all becomes clear now. the sheath is an ingenious design indeed.

thanks for the info.

I got one about 2 years ago, , the spine is 5mm thick, the blade 160mm long and is very sturdy, I tend to use mine as a mini machette/Leku type blade- it batons easily and splits wood very well due to its V grind shape. You can get it very sharp ! but it a bit too big for detailed work.
