I just etched my initials with mustard on my buschcraft knife. it worked great. yust use a bit of mustard thinned with a bit of vinegar. It still has to be thick so it doesn't run of the blade. I used capital letters, but I don't know if you could just write with it.

I've never etched with it, but I've used it several times to grey out carbon steel to keep it from rusting. I never thought of thinning it with vinegar though, I might try that next time.

There's allready a lot of vinigar in mustard, but I add a bit to make it easier to spread. it may not be necesary with your musturd. My advice is: experiment with patina.

The acid in the mustard does the etching. Anything else is just there to thicken. My advice ? Eat the mustard and make a flour / vinegar paste for etching - it'll work just as well
