ESEE PR4 kephart mods

Some mods I’ve done last week to what is already a decent knife, but lacks in the way of thick enough scales to make it comfortable and creates hot spots... a well known trait of this knife reported reasonably frequently.

This is the second one of these I’ve done this year and I’m sure it won’t be the last, which is great as I really like the knife itself!


Because of the scales I had to make a new sheath so decided on the scout carry set up in kydex for a secure fit and managed to source some “pull the dot” snap fasteners on to the straps for secure but easy harnessing.

Anyway I hope you enjoy this already great knife getting the York Knife treatment

Very nice. I've had my eye on the PR4 but it's the scales that put me off to be honest. I don't know why Esee don't offer the option of their usual style of micarta scales.

Thats a huge improvement over the original turd like scales - what were Esee thinking? I’d likely own one if they came from Esee and looked like this one.
nice sheath too looks rock solid.

yeah hot spots galore on the original scales, like you say not useable if you want to enjoy using it lol

There’s a few options out there to upgrade the scales but realistically why would you buy a knife to mod it straight away, it’s a nice knife straight from the factory already that’s for sure though
