I get the feel of a pot you cook food in, then clamp down the lid to take somewhere else

but since its not insulated, not very far.

and the valve is to prevent pressure building up and exploding from the steam off of hot food.

the food can only cool once taken of the heat so it can only be negative pressure - hence my question as to which way the valve worked
