DIY hammock UQ and now TQ

Since I've had tons of spare time recently I decided to buy a sewing machine of ebay and have a go at making things. I started with a few stuff sacks but then set my sights on something a little more challenging. I decided to butcher my 58 down sleeping bag and take all the down out to make an UQ. I won't bore you with to much waffle so here's a few pics of my progress. I used pertex 4 which is windproof and down proof and midge net for the baffles.

No they are midge net baffles to prevent the down migrating to other sections.

All finished now. Grosgrain added to gather ends up and bungee added for suspension. Really pleased with how its turned out.

Its quite heavy actually due to the down in the M58 not being the best. It weighs 980g but compresses nicely into a little compression sack I've got.

Go for it! Its bloody messy work but fun. I looked like I'd been tarred and feathered when i'd finished.
