Did this to an old axe/hatchet.

I was given an axe, didn't really need one and hated the look of it, decided to have a play, what do you think?,
Cut the old handle off and re shaped the axe head, made a new handle, stained and polished, carved an wrapped it, now hangs on the workshop wall as a décor piece but can still be used if needed.

Was a first for me and a bit of fun, now have some more to do as my friends one it and want one.

very nice! what an improvement. really like the stain on the haft too really brings the grain out makes me want to get some stain for the axe i recently done

Thanks Dreadhead, the stain is a Dark Oak worktop treatment, had some left over from a kitchen fit, I don't like buying too much and enjoy repurposing and using what I have laying around, the handle was from a block I had given to me.

Thanks 5teep, I was watching a film, saw that type of axe and had a light bulb moment, was given another older type of axe yesterday and already have plans for it

I've put it through a good few years and it holds up really well with no loosening or any sign of failure.

Thanks, yes they do, decided to let it go to my nieces boyfriend after she begged me to sell it to her.

He does, hangs on his wall, he doesn't want to use it apparently.
