I don't know if this is the right place to put this, but I'm sure the powers-that-be will move it as appropriate

If you're a regular on BB you may have heard about the knife and axe combo set that I made in the spring. I made the set with the intention of having them tested so that I can learn and improve as a maker.

Each of my testers has had it for a month and has been using the set for it's intended purpose. They have then written their thoughts down for me so that I can see where improvements need to be made :)

this is the original thread.

and this is the set:http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i98/buddknives1/bbcombola.jpg

If you would be interested in testing htis set for me, please get in touch! N.B I'm not interested in armchair testing, only testing through use!

thanks

Hi Dave,

I'd be interested in testing this set some time. I had a good look at the axe at WGathering and Nikki fell in love with your knives.

The Lofty Wiseman Survival Tool that you sharpened for me is going great guns - as the cut on my finger was very clean and healed real neat :lmao:

BTW - I'd like to have a chat about sending Nikki down to you to make a knife sometime. ;)

Cheers,

Phil.

PS - still got some pics to send you have you got your broad band sorted yet? PM me you email addy and we will send soonest. Phil.

Dave,

I'd love to give your axe a workout as I've never found a full tang axe I like yet (tend to find with the Estwings etc. that the solid tang doesn't have the shock absorbing qualities of wood). Sorry to say it would (at this time of year) be mostly abused chopping wood for the fire :D Still, it would get a lot of use. TBH though, I'm all knifed out and the knife would only be used for dressing out birds and bunns which isn't much of a test, so if someone can use both tools, better ask them!

Dave, I helped to setup your Gazeebo at the Widerness Gathering, you may or may not remember me, but I would be happy to look at the kit you have and do comparisons against kit I already have and have used.

When I get a chance / money I'll look at doing one of your forgeing courses, I am mainly interested in £50 notes but other than that just making knives would do:D

nock, I'm glad to hear that you hair is growning back  You aren't the first to shed hair over my stall! btw the axe at the Midland was actually the next version of the test axe, being slightly larger around the neck. Improvements always being made!

Leon, I remember the help at WG, thankyou! That bloody gazebo won't be out as much next year :D PM me your addy and I'll see about getting the set to you to test. ;) as for the forging courses, I'm afraid I can't do the £50 notes. Nobody aceots them in the shops these days :lmao: Though keep a look at my website as I'm adding dates for group courses as I work them out ;)
