This is the sort you need - layered closed cell foam strapped and framed

Anything else will just tear bolts to bits - or they punch through and keep going - guess how I know :)

I used to use a thick card box stuffed with sheets of thick card wrapped in old denim jeans with airgun target sheets taped to the front, these quickly got chewed to ribbons and i quickly ran out of old jeans, gradually it got neglected through lack of opportunities to use it after moving into a high rise tower block in the city centre, my crossbow and red dot sights now sits dusty in a cupboard somewhere in the mancave unused in years.

Wow, that's a hefty target. Where do I buy the foam?

Easier to buy the target ready made. Google "Crossbow target boss". If you can get some cheap closed cell foam though, it would be easy to make your own with ratchet straps.

I have a couple that are a bit of light relief from "proper" shooting :)

Sounds as though 150lbs is enough? What kind of distance do you get on a bolt like that?

A 2219 alloy bolt with 3" fletchings will make it nearly 400m from a 150lb compound. Without fletchings it'd go much further.
Seen a bolt skip off the edge of a 70m target once and come down well over 100m past the target.
