If the ban had been in place Thomas Hamilton could not have murdered 16 bairns, injured 15 others, and killed their teacher......that was the turning point that made a nation decide that we loved our children more than we loved guns.
So, here we are, and those railing agin the ban are conflating crossbow restrictions to the Holocaust ? what are you people on ? because it's not in any way the same thing, it's in no way the same scale or importance. It's like claiming someone's a Nazi because they like milk in their tea rather than the purity of black.
The crossbow is a tool that's rarely used, but much abused. The law simply seeks to make it so that the police/procurator fiscal (don't know the English version of that role) and Sheriffs can come down on someone using one with stupidity, or murderous intent, in mind.
Do I want more laws ? more restrictions ? do any of us ?
I'm pretty sure the answer to that is no, but, we're not the stupid ones doing stupid things with tools that honestly are not intended for anything but targetting people or animals.
Would society be the poorer for not having crossbows freely available ?
Pretty sure the answer to that is a no, too.
Before anyone starts on me again, I'm away to find another Mod to make the decision whether or not my post contravenes things.
