Critters of Crécy - picture heavy

Just returned from 2 weeks in Northern France. On one particular day we went to explore the forest at Crécy. Here's some of the things we encountered.

These (Dor?) beetles were literally everywhere - dead and alive in their hundreds:

This spider stood out due to the orange markings at the base of its legs

lots of these amongst the pine needles, no sign of the owners though

The beetle is a dung beetle ( bousier)...the spider is difficult to see on my screen but it looks like a harvestman with some mites attached .......the shield bug is a forest shield bug (Pentatoma rufipes)....

Crecy is on my 'list'
Id like to visit the battle site, where the English Longbowmen, cut down the french knights.

Metal detectorists and farmers, still find medievel arrow heads, in the fields apparently.

Over 400,000 arrows were fired at Crecy according to a book i read, though most of the French knights were killed by the archers knives rather than they're arrows. :)
