It was a Sparrowhawk, I haven't seen many of them over the last 20 odd years. So it was nice to see a breeding pair for a few weeks up close-ish.

Nice one Andrew.
I've never seen a breeding pair, a male regularly causes havoc in the gardens round my house and occasionally sits in the tree right outside my conservatory.
Beautiful birds, a real treat to see up close.

Thanks again and pm sent buddy:You_Rock_

Cheers Sean

congrats Shawn!

and how spooky! - http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42540

Was going to be my first guess initially but changed my mind at the last mo :D

Cool pic Graham!

Sadly most of the Sparrowhawks I seem to see these days are roadkills or dessicated carcasses near paths.

I live near the Beacons National Park & Red Kites are the most common sights on my walks.

A few weeks ago I spent a few days watching a pair of Kestrels nesting about 70 yards away from a pair of Peregrines & about 200 yards further along were a pair of Ravens!

Arrived today recorded delivery no less. What a gent you are Andrew.

Never had an opinel before and I'm very impressed, it has a lovely simplicity about it.

The book is great too, it's going to go on many a trip in my man-bag.

Thanks again!

If we still had a rep system I would rep you loads

We haven't done enough of this stuff lately (anyone remember "pay it forward"?). The forum is a better place for acts like this and members like you.

If you find your self in the Fens or on the high chalk - swing by - it would be a privilege to meet you

Couldn't agree more BR.

I've been thinking about putting some stuff on the classifieds but I reckon I'll get much more satisfaction running a competition like this. Watch this space.

By the way the little knife is just about the handiest knife I've ever had. Lost count of the tasks I've set it to in the few days it's been with me. Well pleased with it.
