Night out Colchester went well, I got to try my new dd 4x4 Tarp with special movable tie outs I made from contact lens holders. The Damascus knife made an appearance too, mostly to cut my venison steaks

I also made this A frame seat with my saw. Based on an old jungle A frame bed that I've used eons ago.

Was hoping that I would only be at work for a couple of hrs this morning, then I could have joined you this afternoon, but unfortunately they have now found more that they want done so it looks like I'm here for the duration. Hope to be able to join you at Donnylands another weekend.

That'd be good Mike. I'm over there now chilling out, I'm now sitting in a hammock chair modelled on yours eating my noodles cooked on my modified mess tins

that's the inner pan cut out as a pot stand, it's now half the weight without the normal black stand. Works well, and home made so all the more satisfying. Mods to the sock look good

had a lovely nights sleep, rained off and on which was good, I filled up a mess tin with rainwater for breakfast. Bryndlefly tried to meet up but I think he was using mobile phone GPS which don't work over there. He did see the ranger though and handed over some rubbish he had collected always good for building a rapport. Saw a couple of lads in the distance collecting mushrooms. Tested my new gas burner, all in all a good trip.

Hi,

I'm Marki from Braintree, new to the site and keen to link up with a local group or groups. Is there a formal meet for you guys that I could come along to or should I keep an eye on the forum and pitch in?

Regards

M

Oops typo below should read Mark!!!!!!

DOH

Hi Mark, I'm more into hiking and lightweight camping rather than proper bushcraft but I do enjoy spending time with the members at http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=114969 the Suffolk group. If you post on the thread I'm sure it will be OK to tag along and meet everyone, there is a small charge to the farmer for use of the site but it is a brilliant group with lots of knowledge. Paul
