Hi All,

I like to take fresh eggs with me when I’m camping but have yet to find a bomb proof way of carrying them in my rucksack. At the moment I generally carry them at the top of my sack and usually use them on day 1. because they will generally get broken in the days after that.

I know this is probably a stupid question but has anyone get any practical tips on carrying fresh eggs
I don’t want to boil e’m and I don’t want powdered I like a good egg banjo in the morning with my brew

Cheers for any tips or insight

M

Break them into a tupperware container,if you carry more than one break them into individual food bags first.

Yes, there are plastic egg containers you can buy. I've had good luck using fresh unwashed eggs straight from the chicken - stay fresh longer that way - and keeping them in a cardboard egg carton. Eggs are naturally pretty tough as long as you are reasonably careful they do well even on the trail. I've carried a dozen and they have lasted for 5-days on the Appalachian Trail in New Hampshire and Maine.

if'n you are taking flour, use a round plastic container with a well fitting lid, half fill with flour, put in your egg's, fill up with flour. the flour acts as a great shock absorber, I carried four eggs at a time like this and not broken one.

If you don't carry 6 eggs, use the empty space to pack thing's like bags of herbs, sachets of sauce etc
