Looking for a new camp knife. Been using a machette for heavier work but finding it unweildy and awkward to pack. Do you guys have any suggestions or recomendations to a knife that will fulfil my requirments.

The Becker BK2
Not very bushcrafty but it chops and batons for fun Funnily enough it isn't too bad at finer work either at a pinch. It comes with a great sheath which can be modded and has removable scales.
I bought mine to take in the canoe as a do all knife (well do as much as possible) in addition to my SAK. I know that a lot of people will say that it's a prybar, but its a great one! I have other knives but this is one of my favourites. It's essentially a poor mans RAT 6. I'll stand aside now as I get flamed

are you looking for a heavy chunk of a knife or a smaller lightweight machete type thing?

Could always cut your machete down to a more managable size..

Like the look of the BK2 also like the MOD knife. Both would suit the job. Not sure if i fancy something a little more traditional though but not a Bowie.
try a billhook or some sort, there are many different types but it might be the perfect tool for you!

or the Ka bar potbelly knife! looks badass, functions well and has a great sheath with an extra mini knife!

Billhooks are fine bits of kit but gets back to usability and packability.
Must say im interested in the leuku style of knife. I have a Finnish Wilderness puukko and its ace but would like a bigger version of it. Just not sure how it will cope with heavier work with the grind they have.

You could look at the bk&t bk2 bk7 or bk9 (I have a bk7 and it is brilliant) I also have a Schrade schf3n if you wanted something stainless. The mod is also worth it for a beat about knife.

If you want a camp knife, I don't think this can be beaten
Thats awsome. Where do i get one?
~I woudl recommend a billhook or a martindale golok, nthe billhook has been the woods chopping tool for use in the uk by forestry workers for hundreds of years and works very well, its surprising how effective they are when you start to use them, alternatively the martindale goloks as used by the army are a very useful and crucially cheap big knife, the steel is good and they come with a nifty little file for remnoving any chips in the field.
I'd recommend a Leuku. I use mine for making kindling for the wood stove even though I'm normally firm in the "use an axe for chopping camp" 
. It also packs nicely in a backpack.
