I am 4 years in to a pair of Altberg Defenders I got from a surplus place in Essex. Hands down they are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned, and the workmanship is faultless. I paid £40 for mine in supergrade condition but I would pay full price for these
Hmm, I have a pair of those I just can't stand.
The uppers are great but the soles have always just been a little slippery when wet (You could call an album that) and I've never trusted them on hard surfaces like rocks.
Even after a few hundred miles worth of dog walking I just can't think of anyone I dislike enough to give em to.
Initially I assumed it was just mold release agent and would wear off. I've not heard of anyone else with the same complaint so assume its possibly a bad batch?
Also the soles are noisy and make a right old clump clump sound (possibly related issue) so I'm just not a fan of them at all.
I much prefer my Meindl german military boots but they don't last forever, maybe about 2000 miles or so of regular dog walks and then they're about done.
