Just a bit curious about what people use for tinder nests when out and about with a bowdrill. I tend to have a bit of jute string about my person in case there's now suitable grasses. How about you?

ya. little zippy bag that you tweak and top up as you find stuff is my method for fire material. shavings from whittling. scraps of birchbark. bit of mugwort, and the vastly important charcloth. i also keep a little zippy bag of non-natural fire making material such as shreaded bike innertube and some cotton wool, for those times when you are too cold/wet/tired etc, but really need a fire. haven't had to use them yet, but.... just in case.
