Just a bit curious about what people use for tinder nests when out and about with a bowdrill. I tend to have a bit of jute string about my person in case there's now suitable grasses. How about you?

I usually pile a heap of fennel pith on the ember. Fennel is a common weed around my area. I learned this trick from Prometheus.
I thought Prometheus carried his stolen fire in a fennel stalk, I didn't know one could use it as tinder.
Right, someone got the story mixed up. Fennel pith makes excellent tinder. Here is another ancient mixup: Hermes staff was originally a fire drill stick, which was made of bay.
