:thinkerg: I was having a nose round the local Maplins today and found..LED Camping lantern £6, it weighs virtually zero and has a fancy led bulb powered by 2 watch batteries. Light output is impressive for it's size and a feature which may come in handy,there is flashing capability built in, so in an emergency it would make a good attention grabber. Whole thing is about the size of a cigarette lighter.

Yes Shewie I did, as I'm a tent wimp that little light will be about right hanging up inside, it remains to be seen what battery life is like but I believe the LED's are not too power hungry..

These really are excellent lights, 360 degree output and flash capable, they make for excellent survival tin (Trangia 210) lanterns as they are tiny, bright and tough, spare batteries take up virtually no space too.

I got several when Cotswold reduced them to £4:00 and my little crewmember uses hers on all the outdoor trips her school and family go on, months later, the original batteries are still as new, she loves it.

These are one of my favorite micro lights.

I've had one of these (the maplin type) for around 2 years now, got it from the Climbers Shop in Ambleside.

I use mine in my hennessey hammock, attached to the overhead utility cord.

As its so small, it can stay in place when packing away, which is really useful when you set it up as when the light fades it can get very dark inside quite quickly (with the close-fitting assymetric fly & mosi-netting).

The battery lasts for ages too.
