As promised, a new venue for a winter camping weekend...Bowley Scout Camp in Great Harwood, Lancashire...

http://www.bowley.org.uk/site/index.php?pid=1
BowleyMap.gif

Directions from the M65 (Junction 7)
Bowley Campsite can be reached easily using the motorway network. After leaving the M65 at Junction 7, follow the signs for Clitheroe. After approximately 2 miles take the 2nd turning left towards Great Harwood opposite the petrol station.
[Follow Directions Below]

Directions from the A59
At the roundabout at Wiswell take the A671 (Signposted Blackburn avoiding low bridge). After a couple of miles you will need to bear right at the traffic lights onto the A680. You will see a petrol station and garage on your left and this is where you need to turn right into Great Harwood.
[Follow Directions Below]

Direction from Petrol Station
Follow this road which becomes Harwood New Road, Harwood Lane and then Park Lane. You will need to bear right when you come to a mini roundabout with a church on the right and continue up Cliffe Lane.
You will find Dean's Lane at the top of this road on your right directly after the Dog and Otter Pub (opposite Great Harwood Cricket Club). Follow Dean's Lane to the bottom where you will find Bowley Campsite.
Accomodation would have to be tents as there is a shortage of suitable trees for basha & hammocking.

I spoke with a few members whilst at Middlewood & it was suggested that we hire a small marquee (20 x 20ft) as a social area. Now this isn't cheap at £150 for the weekend (erected & taken down for us), so please register your vote in the poll!

Obviously, more members going = less per person cost on the marquee!

I think if we get 15 people or more, Im happy to pay a tenner for the marquee, but if its less I think most of us will err towards being exposed to the elements and keeping our money in our pockets :)

I will put my name down but will have to check the wife can get the time off work , the marquee sounds a big pricy to me as money is a bit tight at the moment , but would chip in if there is enough people to bring the price down

Not that bothered about the marquee, but if the poll goes against me, I don't mind chipping in a few quid.

I am up for this , will be bringing the Porta-Palace tent and also dragging Flumpie (the Pink haired lady from Middlewood- taking bets on her hair colour for Bowley :) ) and Alex the fire hog.
Both have Scouting tickets for archery and Flumpie for shooting and will chip in for Marquee too !

I'll say yes for now Simon but I'll have to let you know nearer the time, depends on work and call-out etc.

I'll be up for both the air rifles and archery if it happens.

Not bothered about the marquee either if we're having a communal fire ???
