unknown brand billhooks (here in the Reggio Emilia province they are called Maràss, or Manaresso in Italian), more than 40 years old. They were used by my granfather, wich died long before I was born.
This one, also from my granfather, was probably a Pennato, from some branch of the Angelo B family of brands, also very old. it looks like to me that the curved side was hammered and flattened, letting only the axe side very sharp and usable, like a small hatchet. Maybe it was done for safety purposes.
a small billhook (Roncola), with a 20 cm blade, which I crudely rehandled.
a Rinaldi billhook, with a 29 cm balde, with an homemade scrapwood sheath and an hazel wood handle, which i recently bought.
an identical Rinaldi roncola, fitted on a long handle from an hardware store.
