A couple of trial nights out before I head north. The woods are somewhat "magical" today.

Walking to camp.

Apart from the noise of the countryside, absolute silence. It's about 2 miles to a country shop, and I was surrounded by butterflies all the way.

Very nice. Pitch way too close to a well-troden path for me though.

K

I normally wouldn't camp that close, but that path is in a really remote area, and won't be used until the weekend, and I'll be long gone, plus I know the keepers well.

There's queen hornets out around here, so definitely a real, deep, 'buzz'!

Our bluebells are almost over now, it's been too dry for spring again this year.

Nice, I was sitting in the hammock in the garden yesterday and the noise from the birds was really quite loud. After awhile of laying out, they get quite bold - it seems they don't associate a lying down human with danger so hop about and carry on as if I wasn't there :).

Lovely blue bells. They're out in the woods near me, the other cub leader taught me the difference between English and Spanish Blue bells, and we found wild garlic when out with the cubs:) - the smell was incredible as they ran around disturbing the plants and kicking the aroma up!
