If you could be flexible with your dates I'm sure this will tick all the boxes mate :)

thanks but i cant do the BCUK course as i'm saving to go on holiday aswell march/april so thats why i have looked at those dates to give me time to save up the cash. the backwoods survival looks promising though. especially as they teach primitive skills weekends that appeals to me.

Backwoods Survival gets a really good reputation :approve: and the 'primitive' tools and equipment that Patrick makes are superb

cheers,

Backwoods. Patrick (Who is a member on here and occasionally shows off his work on the site) is a fantastic teacher.

I attended an "Introductory Bushcraft" course last October here:

The guy who runs the place - Dave Watson - certainly knows his stuff and is apparently an authority in friction firelighting in the UK. However most of the course was taken by 2 guys who work for him; both very knowledgable and friendly. You're sleeping out in the woods in basic shelters and no shower, basic toilet, cooking own food(as a group), but I imagine these are features common to many bushcraft courses. Up to you how many extra luxuries you take(10 pack of Mars bars and bottled water in my case). They covered knives, firesteel firelighting, string making, nightwalk, wild foods, tracking, bow drill firelighting, shelter building. You have to appreciate that 2 days isnt a long time so you don't go into much depth with many of these things. Course cost me £185 but may have gone up since. It certainly struck me as a no frills course done on a budget. If you want more frills, maybe this aint the one for you but it was cheap compared to many others I saw back then and i n all fairness it covered what they said it would. Oh and it's near Melbourne in Derbyshire. I've only been on the one course though so you ought to compare with others' comments please before deciding. Good luck.
