BASC or CPSA ??

Bushcrafter (boy, I've got a lot to say!)
I went clay pigeon shooting today and really enjoyed it. So I am thinking of getting a shotgun license so I can then get my own shotgun and do a lot more clay pigeons.

At the site they had leaflets for CPSA (Clay Pigeon Shooting Association) http://www.cpsa.co.uk/ which seems like a good idea to join for the insurance but during my research in to the licences, gun cabinets, ammo storage (haven't even looked at guns yet) I saw that BASC (British Association for Shooting and Conservation) http://www.basc.org.uk/ do very similar insurance.

I'm planning just to start with Clay pigeons but might go for game later one if I get good enough to hit them.

Does anyone have an opinion on either or both of them? Cheers in advance,

I'm a member of BASC - the insurance covers game, range and informal clays - why restrict yourself? They have very good member services too in terms of licence problems, shoot finders and many more things. I rate them highly

Hi resnikov, if you join BASC then you are covered for both clays and game shooting i believe, and also if you get a bit of permission from farmers you would be covered for a bit of informal rough shooting/pigeon shooting etc:, i'm not sure how CPSA operates but i think BASC may possibly offer a wider spectrum of cover.

It depends on what you plan to be shooting at.

If you think it likely that you'll be shooting game or rough shooting then go with BASC.

I am with CPSA because I only shoot clays and it was the cheapest way of getting the liability cover.

Either way, good luck with it; once you start hitting things it is addictive.
