Bahco HFGPS-0.7-400FG Fibreglass Hatchet- any POV?

I like the look of these as a carving axe (even without the ash handle).

Anyone used one, thrown one away in disgust? Are they worth spending £20 on?

Can't comment on that particular product but I find those rubber handles give me blisters after a while.

No experience with one but I agree with Samuel regarding the handle. Like some of the new Moras the handle is very grippy for short term use then just starts to rip your skin off.

For that money you could buy something old off fleabay that may serve you better as a carving tool. A Kent pattern hatchet maybe? Though you would likely have to put in some work setting up the edge properly - actually you might have to do the same for the Bahco anyway.

I noticed one of these a few weeks back and I'm tempted to get one for camping and working on my woodland. I might have a go at re-handling it and at £22 it would like a cheap tomahawk.

For a carving axe wouldn't the hammer part get in the way at all? Would the extra weight that bit provides be a help or hindrance?

What sort of carving are you intending to do?

Bahco describe it as
