My mate has just shelled out £50 quid on a Gransfors, but he lives in a flat, and I have heard that the constant warmth and dry air of a house can dry the handle out and make the head wobbly? Where is the best place store the axe as to prolong its life??

Don't know specifically about axes but I've always been told if no other storage area is available, to hang my wooden bows on an external, outward facing wall (i.e. a little cooler, and very slightly more humid). Obviously well away from any radiators etc.
Don't think he'll have a problem though.

A couple of coats of linseed on all parts and occasional use to let them get a bit of outside air and it will be fine. I store 5 various model Axes indoors and rotate a bit between them over the year. Never had any problems so far.

Gransfors use very dry wood and a very thight fit so there is no problem with storing it in an appartment. Actually I would say that an axe that cant be stored in an appartment is a not so secure axe.
