I was fortunate to read up on hatchets here, SOTP and BB before I bought one.
I'd intended getting a small Fiskars/Gerber camp hatchet, but the more I read, the clearer it became that I actually knew very little about what makes a hatchet good.
The hatchet I bought was a GB Mini, and I could not have asked for a better tool to exactly suit my needs, besides which, I think its beautiful.
I can't recall a tool feeling so utterly natural in my hand as this does, straight out of the box!
Having read that the edge was sharp enough to shave with, I tried, and it is. I was not inclined to see if my Gillette razor could chop wood though!
Given the quality of the advice, I'm confident that you'll be as happy with your hatchet, whichever model you choose as I am with mine.
