I'm trying to plan a surprise long weekend away for my girlfriend.
I've narrowed it down to either a visit to try and see the northern lights, or a trip to paris.

I'm leaning towards the northern lights, but i don't know which destination is best (and affordable) to visit that we would get to see the lights in early march?

Can anyone advise what the likelihood of seeing the lights in early march is? rare vs guaranteed? and which is the best destination to also visit for a long weekend?

The lights are said to be particularly bright and plenty this year.
You should get as close to the polar circle as you can. A friend of mine goes to Abisko in February, only to hunt for northern lights. Wish you best of luck for spotting them!
