The pumps break very easily but MSR replace them in the US no questions asked, not as easy in the UK, as you say they are poor at simmering and clog easily if you use auto/car fuel

I used one of these stoves every day for 7 months and had no real problems with it at all..other than a regular clean to keep it in top health thay are a realy great bit of kit

I did try and use meths in mine but did not have any realy luck with it..so I just stick to unleaded.
but one thing I would sugest is that you learn all about your stove..learn to take it apart and put it back together..it great fun when your putting the legs back on to get them in the right order.give it a try.....
it may be a bit sad but my stove liveson the shelf all shiny and polished....I love my stove..hehehe

That's because it's not designed to be used with meths..

I think the only thing this stove needs, is an adapter to use compressed gas cylinders like camping gaz or jetboil fuel.

You may well need a different size fuel jet too.

That would be the whisperlite universal.
