I am looking at getting a compact windshirt for walking and wild camping this winter i run pretty hot so it needs to be breathable, does not need to be waterproof,so the question is which one to get
tip tap tapping away
Montane is great but is cut for the smaller frame even in Xxl,if you are broad it won't fit. Rab do some in a better cut, but I also have the parramo version and love it. The material isn't quite as light weight as the montane though
They don't pack much smaller than the Montane, except for the shirt I got for a fiver from Wilco's a couple of years back. The Montane is however much better quality it packs a lot smaller than the Buffalo windshirt or Paramo windproof smock.
Hard to chose as both are very good, I think the Arktis has the edge as the material seems a bit tougher. The hood flaps around in very strong wind however you could argue if it's that bad its time for another jacket. As Widu says get the cheapest. You might find you go back to wearing the Fuera though.
I saw Arktis sell a stowaway for £3.50 right from their factory on ebay a few weeks ago. Probably should have got it but it was in camo. They still have a few on their ebay page in black, green, hi-viz and camo. All priced different, £6 and £15 for example depending on the colour.
Right now for £5.99 + £2.50 they have camo and hi-visibility, link here. Their ebay store is great for picking up really cheap deals on certain stuff!
