Anyone jnow of a cheap source of cod liver oil?

or similar fish oil. In Boots and the localHealth Food shop it was about 11 quid a pint which since I want it for experimenting with primitive lamps and as a preservative on iron work is a bit rich for a skin flint like me.

Thats about what we pay at the Ag merchant for CLO for our pony - you can get it in 5 litre cans.

Does it not smell when used on lamps? I can still remember the taste of it and malt extract that we were given as kids - yuk!

I've read that it doesn't smell much at all, if you keep the wick trimmed. Time to suck it and see, well in this case not literally as it does taste foul as you say.

Now to find out what sort of rock I need to chip a Viking lamp from, the youngest two have them as the Monday project for the rest of the term.

Soap stone seams the best option, I doubt you get that in the valley so I will have to trawl the charity shops for a already carved lump I can saw up, thankfully there's plenty of pics on the net of surviving originals to copy.
