Im an absolute fishing addict, been at it for a good 17 years and still loving it. I noticed a few fishy related comments on the out and about forum, especially from some of the lucky b*ggers up around the trossachs etc.

just wondered if there were a good few of you.

so theres a couple of us eh :)

I have fished coarse sea and game, but I have recently pretty much given up on typical coarse fishing, since finding my game legs. I have a really big thing for fly fishing and fly tying now, particularly on the local rivers wharfe/aire for borwnies and grayling. Nothing really beats catching a fish on an artificial you have crafted with your own hands. But I will fish for anything that will take an artificial, and I particularly have a soft spot for perch and pike.

You are very lucky to be where you are, although I know I do take my own setting for granted.

Largemouth Bass. August 2009. Near Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada. Fought so well I just had to toss her back.

When I were a lad......

Not cast a fly for donkey's years but I used to be a fanatic. Up at 3am to get on the river early; fishing in my lunch hour (the Tweed) and after work.

The little Scottish Border rivers held some hard fighting little trout which were a joy to bring to the net.

Then I moved south 300 miles and into course fishing territory, which is not for me.

stonking fish gear up.

Surely there are a few places that hold some wee gems of brownies in norfolk, and theres always the saltwater flyfishing for bass, mackerel, mullet and the like! Still to try my hand at that one though!

theres always the rivers ;) if you can find a good river in grayling season your on to a winner.

I fish for trout and other game species, used to be strictly fly only, but now enjoy spinning more. Favourite is every summer, spinning in the sea around Gothenburg for sea trout. Easier in the spring, but the few fish you do get in the summer are in great condition.

great stuff guys! Wish I could do more sea fishing.

Bashabuddy, seen as you are only accross the way in leeds (I live in shipley) I'll happily let you havea go with the fly gear next season. It's great on summer evenings on the rivers, casting to rising trout.

Don't really consider myself as a fisherman but I love to fish. I am more into catching fish for food when out in the wilderness or near the sea rather than for sport. I just spent new year on the Ardnamurchan peninsula fishing with a £20 exped fishing kit and pulled in a lot of Coley to go with the other seafood I collected. Watching the sun set behind the mountains as I looked out towards Eigg, Rum and Skye as I pulled in another fish was simply stunning. Just to make it better a local seal made an appearance 3 days in a row.

Much the same here. Don't know much about fishing but thoroughly enjoy doing it anyway. In fact I'd be hard pushed to think of nicer way of spending some time.

Fish local sea lochs from the canoe mainly. Have caught things I didn't know the name of but ate them nonetheless. Mackerel, cod and pollok are what bites most often.
