Hang on, that still doesn't sound right....

I'm planning to treat myself to a really good single malt at crimble time, and would welcome any suggestions from anyone. Would probably be willing to spend about £30-40 on the bottle, so the 40 year-old Laphroig is probably out...

I can highly recommend Glenmorangie Madeira Wood casked single malt. (£27.99 from Oddbins ). It is very smooth, ever so slightly sweet and I could happily drink the lot over an evening.

I've never seen it in the supermarkets, but you can buy it online and I'm sure you'll be able to get it at one of the 'proper' vintners.
