Amazing what you can do with a bit of drift wood

To build a Kayak takes `great` skill.

But you dont need fancy tools, nor fancy wood.

(The Kayak in Hull museum is mainly made from whalebone, but this is an exception)

Can't wait to see the next set of photos

Dont hold your breath, I've been waiting 2 maybe 3 years for the skin up set of photo's to appear! Maybe it was never finished. Its a lovely series though, building a wonderful form with a few simple tools and found materials
Check out Harvey Golden's kayak site, it is AWESOME. Some of his first boats were built from pallet wood and any old scrap

Wow. Very cool.

Not to make you all jealous or anything, but I just happen to be vacationing in the next town over next week. Might have to make a stop! Maybe get the story straight from the mouth of the creators!

I think it was finished. A picture on http://www.neoanderthal.com from a rabbitstick meet showed a hide covered kayak. And vague impression that Kilii is one of the top primitive skills people over there.

Ah I thought I'd come across this site a few years back, glad my memory has'nt totally gone  . The workmanship is superb, as is the bodging to get the tools he needs. Pity the photos for the skin covering was never done, I would have liked to have seen this one in the water.
