Airguns (Hope it's not taboo)??

I’ve got two but I’ve barely even looked at them for years. A Webley Xocet and a Daystate X2.
I always quite fancied a little BSA lightning as well for some reason. Why are they poorly regarded?
Well I probably wouldn’t have stopped there, Webley Longbow, HW97, a nice Theoben etc. The list would have grown I’m sure.
But as I say I’ve barely looked at the two I have and I married a vet which sort of put a stop to my rabbit bashing days.

The Exocet is a great rifle from what I hear, I almost bought one at a carboot sale years ago, The seller wanted £100 for it, That's all I had in my pocket so it would have meant i'd have to go straight home!!
The Lightnings are usually criticiized for having a poor trigger and being harsh on the firing cycle along with the fact that they weren't made by Weihrauch!!, I can't actually recall what mine is like to shoot, Not had it out in years!!

Now that you mention it I recall they were very light, and were harsh as a result.
I like the Xocet. Nice and solid but simple and no nonsense.
I think I paid about £140 for it iirc.

The Webley Longbow, real one made in Brum is the best sub 12ftlbs break barrel ever made in my opinion. I really wish I still had mine, shot the tightest groups I’ve ever shot with any springer.
I can only agree with you chaps about the Exocet, cracking little hunting carbines. I never understood why it’s nearest competitor from across town BSA’s Lightning outsold it, the Exocet was superior in every single department. Smashing good break barrel Webleys Exocet

I've a Vulcan, The last type which was known as the Vulcan Ks (Karbine sport I think!), Cracking little rifle in exceptional condition, It's threaded for a sound moderator but it's the strange size threads the were used on the BSA Golstar and Superstar mk2 (Shrouded versions) and the RB2 Airsporters!
It fits the RB2k at the bottom of this pic too but when it's fitted to this, The pellet clips the edge of the bore of the mod, Strange as it's spot on without the mod!!
The mod would have fitted these too but I traded them both to different people, The Superstar K at the bottom I traded with a suppsoed mate for some knives, He said one was a clone but he couldn't recall which, Turned out when I put pics of a facebook knife group that they were all fakes but he wanted a Hurricane thrown in with the deal, Safe to say, He's no mate now and i'll never trade anything with him again, He always had to have the best deal for him which was more costly for me!

I recall when the Longbow came out that they looked ace. I should have bought one but I couldn’t afford one at the time. Ah well.

They really were a great air rifle Andy, I bought mine directly off Steve Pope, he hand built it himself. It was astonishingly accurate, very fast short action with little to no recoil. I’ve never shot groups as tight with any other springer and Ive had them all. I agree they did look good too.

Ah well. Maybe I'll find one one day but it's not overly high on my priority list at the minute.

I went through a phase a few years ago with air guns. It’s like I was buying one then selling another every month!
Had some decent pcps including HW100, s410, BSA ultra and a tuned Rapid mk2. Liked them all bar the rapid - most over rated air gun ever in my opinion. And a HW99 “imp” from SFS which must have been a Friday job because it galled after < 200 pellets and was strangely twangy for a usually mild mannered 99.
Sold them all ended up with just HW30 and a knackered old HW80. Not shot the 80 as it’s in bits, but the 30 is hugely fun and up surprisingly accurate.
I’ve had a thing for theAA TX200 since they first appeared in the mid 90s. I could be tempted back into the fold by one of them. Or a HW97. Or a HW110.

I had a lovely TX200 in .177" cal, Trouble was that the loading port wasn't big enough to get my dumpy fingers in, I kept dropping the pellets before they got to the barrel! so I sold it
I bought the HW97 in .177" as the port is cut out much larger, I don't have a problem loading it!!I have a couple of 80's, Brilliantly uncomplex guns!!

Any recommendations for a very cheap ratter? Got a couple under the shed nicking the bird food. Range will only be about 7-8 meters
That’s it in a nutshell for me. I had a HW77 (maybe a 97) and had a lot of fun with the single shot springer but the forward weight of the under lever system was messing with my back. Bought a BSA Ultra SE after playing around with the HW100. Such a lovely little rifle after the heavy Weihrauch but I found the pre-charge system to be highly efficient for hunting, but seriously lacking any feedback for plinking. No recoil and a decent sight and it’s just boring.
If I buy another air rifle it’ll be a single shot springer like a HW30, or maybe a gas ram. It’ll have iron sights, but a rail to clip a sight on, and it’ll rely on me a bit more. Most fun I had with a rifle was an ancient Diana that belonged to Zorro, it really was an old tatty thing that had to be aimed about a foot below what you wanted to hit, the rear sights had been welded on, but it was tons of fun.
The air rifle I have is a FX model Impact in .22.
Scope with a variable magnification
Superb gun, ultra accurate, but it developed a trigger issue. Took the trigger apart, another project took priority, lost the parts.
This a year ago. So have now ordered new parts.
No doubt, the day after I receive the parts I will find the lost one.

Rich, I’d highly recommend a HW30. I have an S in .22 that comes with open sights, beech stock and the brilliant rekord trigger. So long as you don’t require 12 ftlbs then it will serve you well. Mine is chrono’d at 7.8 ftlbs but it has so little felt recoil and cocking effort is minimal, it’s a true joy to shoot. I’d get another in .177 in an instant.
kepis, that is a cracking looking 97 setup you have there. I actually preferred the 97k I shouldered to the TX200 mk3. I’d very much like a beech 97k in .177
