I am about to lose it big time !!
For those of you who are not aware , my wife is a very severe asthmatic (to say the least) who depends on oxygen on an extremely regular basis .
Since febuary a new company (Airproducts) has had the contract to supply the oxygen . In the 3 weeks and 2 days that they have had the contract , i have only been able to get a grand total of 3 oxygen cylinders , normaly we would have used 20 / 30 .
I have been a constant thorn in their side for the past fortnight , i have got the PCT involved and have threatened them with the media and legal action (as they are clearly in breach of contract) . Still no cylinders ! I have followed their procedure to the letter (several times) , Still no cylinders !
There have allready been inctances in the news of people having to be admited to hospital because of their incompitance and even a few deaths .
Quite frankly i feel like battering the MD of this company for the collosal screw up he is ultimately responsible for . I know this is not really an option , espescially as i am still on a suspended sentance , but am at a loss as to how i can get this situation sorted .
Any ideas ?

local TV and local newspapers...they love human drama ( I hate them for their
love of human drama), but they may be able to do something.

Also, you say Airproducts have won a new contract. If you are privvy to the terms
of this contract - seek legal advice. If they aren't meeting the terms of the contract,
they are at fault..

Best of all..calm down and think things through.

No one ought to be going through this.
Make the biggest fuss you can, as quickly as you can. Contact your local tv news network, they love human interest stories and let them stir it up.
There must be some sort of monitoring agency for the NHS surely, someone who has a responsibility to apply some fast response in a situation like this one.
Hope your wife is dealing well with all this added stress.

Kindest wishes,
Toddy

Oh dear, not good. You're probably already aware, but the BBC did a news article on this a few days ago:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4722700.stm

The article might give you some pointers (such as contact your local pharmacy). Also there have been a fair few comments from readers, which should also hopefully give you (and your wife) ideas and also shows that you're certainly not alone...

Hope it gets sorted soon. The whole thing is an absolute disgrace.

Drop a line to your MP, even if your not flying his flag he will investigate the matter and get results, well mine did.

Sorry to hear you've got trouble Pumbaa haven't really got any advice any different from the above just keep calm and keep on with what your doing try and get as high up in the PCT as you can the dealings I’ve had with PCT's the high up bodies can usually get things moving pretty quick

Hope it all works out and your wife is OK

I suggest getting hold of your doctor. Under the new regs, he orders direct from the supplier rather than through a pharmacist. He does this via Fax. I would suggest you ask him to fax a letter explaining to the company that they are adding risk to a clinical condition and that they are liable. Air products are a commercial organisation and words coming from a doctor like "clinically negligent" should scare the bejasus out of them

The lass at the PCT has put the willys up them (so to speak) . She threatened them with a bill for the hospital bed (that would be needed ) and compensation for emotional stress . not sure what the compensation is worth , but i know a bed in HDU is in the region of £750 a day . So within an hour 4 cylinders have been dropped off ! So have had to start ordering again as they need 3 working days notice !!!
I have sent an email to our MP and the local rag is interested in pushing this right up the media ladder .
Still not getting the required result , but am pushing harder now . No chance that they will get away with it .

I am a long term customer of Air products. Some years ago I had a supply problem. I discovered that by moving agent the supply was better. Air products used to be a good company when they were building their business. They have let things slip for some years now. I can't help with medical oxygen supplies apart from my suggestion. I hope very much that this situation resolves itself to your benefit.
