A wee wander round Loch Muick- Pic Heavy

Took the opportunity of a fine weather forecast to go and stretch my legs a bit,get some much needed fresh air, and an excuse to fire up the Woodland Edge stove again. Decided to head out to the Balmoral Estate, Lochnagar side and wander around the stunning Loch Muick. 8 miles in total, three and a half hours car to car, including lunch stop Loch-side near the "big house"

Weather was clear and bright, but with the sun being so low, pictures didn't come out as good as I hoped as the areas in shadow were REALLY dark, and the area's in light were REALLY bright!

Saw some wildlife- loads of Chaffinches, Red Squirrels and 2 golden Eagles soaring over the hills at the bottom of the loch- Broad Cairn & Cairn Bannoch.

The Woodland Edge stove worked a treat- despite the lack of bone dry tinder and a hrad frost everywhere- used a cotton wool ball covered in vaseline with a ferro rod and added some pine bark, small twigs and then a few pine cones- brewed a wee cuppy in just a few mins, much quicker than I expected given the very cold wind blowing- it was around 4 degrees C without windchill.

All in all, a brilliant wee wander and I still have that lovely woodsmoke smell about me that I miss so much! GF won't be too impressed I bet though .
