How many of you are 'Scout' Leaders or work with Scouts????

SWMBO reccons it can't be more than 20% !!!!

To start it off i am (well kinda - i'm a DC , thouigh was a Cub / Scout / Explorer Leader) and she is a Scout Leader!

so that is 1.5 to add to the total (as she reads under my account!);)

Hi mate,

can see how to create a poll from scratch now...... ;)

cheers abbe!:You_Rock_

but before this thread gets out of hand is it possible that a passing moderator could change this to a poll with the following 'choices'

'Yes', 'No' and 'Was'

Thanks

Went all the way through, Cubs to Ventures (and Air Cadets) before joining the forces. Helped out with a local Scout Troop when I could when I was in the mob. But now that I have to travell for work I can't commit to a regular weekly event but I try to help out on camps & courses when I can.

No idea what kind of fraction you going to work that lot into!

I went through the system, Cubs to Ventures, then gave some back by helping out with the Cub pack that I had originaly started with, until I moved away to college.
I guess thats another "Sort of.. Used to" vote for me.

This is a reply from the New World.

I was a scout, my son was a scout, my daughter was a scout, and both my wife and I worked with the scouts. But we are well past that age at the moment. My son is now in the army (I was in the army, too, and so was my father and father-in-law) and my daughter is in college.

I'm not a scout leader, but with 5 kids (four living with me) I have my own troup.

This is one of the reasons I want to be able to:

a) learn as much as I can
b) pass on as much as I can

I find it a sad fact these days that the things I took for granted as a child are no longer part of life for the majority of kids, I used to make dens and cook on open fires when we went to the beach (the beach we very close to a pine plantation ;) )

I hope to be able to share the excitement of camping without having to go to a site that has all mod cons, there are places that offer satelite TV in the recreation room. I thought the idea of going camping was to be able to go away from it all *shrugs*

I was in the cubs, and then the scouts and a young 'un, I think I'll have a look about to see if there is a 'scout hut' near us. I might just get the boys to join ;)

I went through the system from 7 years old as a Cub through to Venture Scouts, then joined the Army at 19. On leaving the Army at 30 I was invited by my old Scout Leader to rejoin my old Troop as ASL which is where I've been for the last 13 years. I run a bi annual bushcraft camp for my Troop ( not badge but interest oriented) and District camps for the Survival badge. In 2002 we took a group of Scouts from our District to America as party of an exchangeset up that has currently been running for 20 years (this is where my user name comes from).
