Well I finally managed to get this one. Local cobbler was selling it off and it was a bargain!

Just need a bit help with thread thickness and needle size.

I'm looking for a thick thread that will be visible on like a sporran top and a leather point needle to match.

Also a thiner strong thread and round profile needle for pouches etc.

Anyone out there be able to help?

Oh nice :) very usefully nice too :D

Somewhere I have two reels of linen thread meant for sewing children's shoes by machine. One red and one blue. Thing is though that both had been slightly sunbleached at one end of the cop.
The thread's fine, just it's slightly varigated in use....that I know I'm not going to give them.
If they'd be of any use, even just as practice setting up, they're yours for the postage costs.
It's really good quality Barbour Campbell thread, very tightly spun, mercerised and very strong. It's not a comfortable thread to use to sew with by hand though; it's definitely a machine thread.

cheers,
M
