Here are a some pics from my trip up to Scotland last week.
I have been waiting for the chance to get up there for a while I finally got a week free and managed to convince the wife to come along to although this came at a price!
The deal was 7 days in scotland, three and a half days in a spa hotel 5 mins away from loch Lomond and then the same wild camping on the shores of Loch Chon.
The hotel was superb winning me major brownie points but as the week went on I knew Amelia was getting more nervous about the second part of the trip!
She wont go camping on a "normal site" never mind in the middle of no where as she put it! "where do I plug the hair straighteners in" is the usual response.
Not only was she nervous about the camping but also about the prospect of getting in the canoe with me, not something she normally does either.
It wasn't exactly 15 items or less, and to be honest I didn't want to put her off by skimping on kit and besides we had the canoe to carry it all in so weight wasn't an issue. Amelia wouldn't sleep in a hammock (scared of bears, wild axe men, spiders the list goes on) so tent it was.
It was the first time I had been back on the ground for a while and was ok for a change but still not as comfy as the hammock!
We had a go at making bread which started well, looked and smelled great but then we left it to long and it was just to burnt!
We cooked chips in the dutch oven to, definitely a favourite and on the list for next time!
Had great fun in the canoe, its first real outing with any serious weight in.
Such a great few days and Loch Chon was the perfect place for our first "wild" trip together!
The weather was also great, only a bit of a shower one night, and a very dull and misty morning to follow but soon cleared to once again bring beautiful sunshine! I know this can make a huge difference so i was pleased it was on our side this time!
As it turns out she enjoyed the second part of the trip the best, who'd have thought it, she is already planning when we can go again only next time just to camp and no hotel!
Job done in my eyes!!!
Sorry for the amount of pics to everyone!
