Here's my 4th homemade, its 4mm 01 Carbon steel, birds eye maple scales, and homemade mosaic pins. Been through the usual oil quenching and tempering process.

Thinking about selling this one to fund more materials to make a couple of more. I would be interested to know what you all think its worth, happy to take any private offers by PM.

See my other posts for my previous knives, they have all been used extensivley now and proving very effective, holding there edges. The first one I made http://www.bushcraftuk.com/community/showthread.php?t=16654&highlight=homemade+woodlore has had some serious abuse, log splitting with a baton etc and is fine. this one is made by the same process.

Amazing!

One question - what do you use to engrave the blades?

woodwalker

I did the engraving using a method on British blades. Basically you paint the blade with nail varnish, and scratch your design in, then using a P9 battery attach one wire to the blade, the other to the tip of a cotton bud, soaked in salt water and vinegar solution, you then dab your design and it etches into the surface, the nail varnish acts as a barrier to protect the rest of the blade so that only your design gets etched in. Takes a few practice pieces to get the timing right. If I can find the link I'll add it on here later.

Yes, thats the one. Be sure to practice on a couple of old bits of steel first, don't go straight onto anything valuable. Good luck, let us know how you get on.
