To celebrate almost three happy years and my 2000th post I thought I`d offer something back to the forum in the same style Scanker did a few weeks ago.

I`ve seen a lot of folk come and go over that time and those of you that are still around will know I`m more of a listener than a talker. So I`m not quite sure how I racked up 2000 posts to be honest but I do know I`ve absorbed plenty of information from everybody on here over that time and have enjoyed almost every minute of it.

What I`m going to offer up as a bit of fun is this ...

DSC00792-1.jpg

It`s nothing special but one of the best ideas to come out of this site in my opinion. All bits are salvaged from second hand shops so the value isn`t much but I`ve spent a few hours turning it all into something useable.

The set comprises of a

  • Wayland inspired stainless steel 12cm strainer trail stove (burns owt you can get your hands on basically)
  • Stainless steel sugar jar billy can with coathanger wire bail arm, approx 10cm
  • Foam carpet underlay wind breaker (and silencer for when carrying the set)
  • Two metal scewers for pan supports
  • Homemade nylon carry sack (which I need to make)

It`s all brand new and virgin shiney and just crying out to be blackened up

So my question to you is (you wouldn`t believe how hard it is to think of something that can`t be googled) ......

How many miles from leaving my front door to returning home again, did I cover on my honeymoon trip to Canada and the USA. This includes all travel in this country before departing, the flights, the tour, flights to the US and all the way back home again.

To give you a rough idea I drove to London, flew from Heathrow to Vancouver, then toured the rockies for twenty one days eventually looping back round to Vancouver, then flew to New York for four days then back to the UK.

Just to get you started it`s 4710m from Heathrow to Vancouver International :D

I have a figure which I think is pretty close to what we did, so the closest guess to the mile gets the loot.

I`ll tell you how far it was and anounce the winner on Friday 15th at 8 pm.

UK members only sorry

EDIT:

Can you copy and paste the list of names and stick yourself on the end

Did the same for my honeymoon too. Vancouver, Vancouver Island, Rockies, Seatlle, then home via Washington. Trip of a lifetime, even tempted to get married again just for the honeymoon. Just don't tell the wife.
