    Wood ID please

Thanks everyone, we thought it might be eucalyptus but expected it to burn better, also thought the wood might have had a eucalyptus smell to it. Jon

Any ideas what this wood is, doesn't seem to burn very well but don't know how well seasoned it is. Jon.

    Billhook gallery!

Far right is my Brades 198 9" which is great for just about everthing, next to is the sheath that I recently made for it. Left is a new addition, an Elwell 4583 10". Both were owned by family members and discovered when clearing out sheds. Jon.

Can anyone help me identify this plant or weed

Thanks guys, got it now. It is Nicandra Physalodes, part of the Solanaceae family commonly called Apple-of-Peru or Shoo-fly plant. Once again thanks for the help, the only thing to decide now is weather to keep it as a pot plant or not. Jon.

Can anyone help me identify this plant or weed

Not been on the forum for some time now, but now I need to identify a plant and thought i'd see if anyone on here could help. This thing has grown in my veg patch and i'm moving house soon, it's quite an attractive plant and I may dig it up and pot it depending on what it is and how poisonous it...

Rabbit skins (raw), free to good home

I have several rabbit skins that are spare if anyone wants to collect them in the next couple days. Obviously this only applies to people local to me and who can collect them asap. The skins are raw not tanned, they have been in the freezer since skinning and now we need the room in the...

    Help with plant ID please

I've heard before about the seeds remaining viable for upto 15 years. The area where most of them are looks like it's been used as a dumping ground for soil and garden waste (probably from other places) so that's probably how they came to be here. I went out with the roundup this morning...

    Help with plant ID please

Very nice, i'd overlooked the fact that the stems could be used, I think the biggest i've seen would be about 3 inch diameter. It's not the poisonous bit that I have a problem with, i've seen the chemical type burns and uv sensitivity that comes from getting the sap on your skin. If it was...

    Help with plant ID please

We're not that close to the river but I know they are more common along waterways. I've seen quite a few larger specimins but never a baby one, i've been keeping my eye on it and even though it's still a small plant it's growing at quite a rate. Last year there was a full sized giant hogweed...

    Help with plant ID please

Definatly not acanthus, I used to have a load of those at a different place, the leaves on this thing arn't smooth and are too light in colour. Bit more info, the bits of leaf stem that can be seen are covered in white hairs and are a light green but with purple dots and blotches, this can...

Any Landrover experts in the house ?

I run a Disco 300tdi as a daily drive, done about 70 thousand miles since I got it (on and off road and in some pretty deep water), wouldn't be without it. As said it helps alot if your happy to get the spanners out now and again and doing your own servicing will save you a fortune (and it's...

That is very nice, can see you've really put the effort in to get such a perfect finish. I'm especially impressed with the way you've done that bevel, any chance of a look at that link for the jig. Jon.

    Found a duck egg

When I got back in from work today my wife said there had been one female and three male mallards in the garden today. They'd been out the front and round the back, then came back later, Anyhow I didn't really think anything of it. I was out doing the rounds in the garden later, checking out...

    Recycled knife

"Out of interest can you read the makers mark?" Stamped on the blade it has 'frank mills warranted sheffield', the frank bit is very worn so not sure on some of the letters. Jon.

    Recycled knife

Firstly hello as this is my first post. I was sorting through some old stuff in a relatives garage today trying to dig out a grass box for an old mower, when I eventually got the box I found this sorry looking thing in the bottom of it. Now i've been looking to get a nice little...
