    I am amazed…..

I think scouring the web or shops for bargains is an enjoyable part of outdoors activities. You quickly learn what is and isn't necessary. Likewise, plenty of kit can be obtained with the old 'beg, build and borrow' approach I like to use. I've found it handy to buy cheaper equipment to get...

Putting a little 'bushcraft' in your day

    Does knife-sharpening count? :)

    Dried fruit "jelly"....

Don't forget that he mentioned there was no proof at all that our ancestors used that method, or prepared that dish at all. It did look awesome though. I'll give it a go next time I'm about.

Inspiration required!!!.....How do you do it....?

I expect a few of us have this problem. My answer was to give up work and go back to study, I've applied to do animal behaviour in Aberyswyth, Wales, which should give me plenty of opportunity for being outside (to study and for leisure). I currently work in IT and it's killing me. The loathsome...

Ready for an adventure in the snow ?

It's snowed something fierce here in Bristol. I took the day off work so I can go out on a little adventure. I wonder where I'll end up :)

    No “Sicky” For Me!

I've got the day off. I live in Bristol (worst bus service in the country, period!) and my workplace is an hour away without snow, so I don't fancy my chances much. I'd like to sit up tonight with a small fire in my garden and wait for the snow to come. Does anyone know the official line taken...

    king afreds cakes on ebay

I can just see a BBC series a millenia from now : "Robot Mears wild food, episode one: Foraging on ebay". Episode 2 would be 'microchips' of course. Groan...

    An entirely new axe

That's a beautiful piece of workmanship, even a novice like myself can see the design radiates quality and superior craftsmanship. As if this thread wasn't already overrun with requests, I'd be very interested in acquiring one.

Cool just ordered an XL olive m65. Can't really go wrong for £30. I'll need it soonish, I've got a trip planned in a fortnight!

Where did you get yours from Leon? Cheers, Steve

    M65 jacket

I'm looking into buying an M65, I'd prefer an authentic one rather than a knock off. I can find plenty of different online outlets selling them, but I'm still unsure which to go with. Surplus and adventure seem a good bet. I was firstly hoping for some advice on which of their jackets would be...

Loch Lomond "inchconnachan" (picture heavy i think ? lol)

Woah. That's so kind of you, I really don't know what to say! I'll bear that in mind as I plan my trip (still in the stage where I'm putting my 'solo' kit together). Thankyou so much for the offer!

Loch Lomond "inchconnachan" (picture heavy i think ? lol)

Sounds like a good deal for someone in the market for a canoe. Unfortunately I don't (won't) have a car, so a permanent canoe isn't much use to me :( From what little I know about canoe prices, those seem like a bargain though.

Loch Lomond "inchconnachan" (picture heavy i think ? lol)

I do intend to hire a canoe for the weekend from a nearby place. This shouldn't actually be that expensive a trip hopefully, though I'll have to gather all the relevant gear first (a long way off yet...) I really value this advice, absolutely perfect, thanks. EDIT - Can anyone advise roughly...

Loch Lomond "inchconnachan" (picture heavy i think ? lol)

That really does look like a fantastic location. I've wanted to visit it for a while. Assuming I can get all my gear on the plane without being arrested (must look this up), what are my chances of getting to loch lomond without a car? It would make sense to fly to the nearest airport and then...

    Greetings and salutations!

Hello everyone! I've been reading here for a while and decided now would be a good time to step out from the shadows... I've always considered myself a child of nature, and enjoyed the outdoors and all it has to offer. However, only recently was I introduced to the fantastic world of...
