    I've made a similar sauce but using Scotch Bonnet chillies. Bloody hot! Roasted them first with a few cloves of garlic until slightly charred then as per your recipe. Lovely smoky flavour!

    Well done. Good to see another biltong fan. The great thing about making it yourself is modifying the recipes to suit. I add chilli to mine. i use a biltong box to make mine, takes 3 or 4 days.

    Did you beat it flat after boiling? I find that makes it more likely to take a spark.

    Frozen boots after sleeping outdoors during a cold night

    I remember being on our first exercise on Dartmoor in Feb 76 as a young soldier waking up to find my boots and water bottle frozen stiff. Always kept boots and bottle in sleeping bag after that!
